3 workouts to help build strength & mobility in your 40's and beyond

At 51, just completed another strength training program from my favorite home gym (no commute needed).

Yes, I desperately need a tan!! Hopefully that will change soon as we head into warmer weather here in sunny Colorado!

It’s so important, especially for us women, to incorporate strength training, along with mobility and balance work, as we head into our 40’s and beyond.  It promotes muscle growth and keeps us strong, mobile, stabile and injury free. 

Did you know that we begin to lose muscle (and bone) as early as our 30’s?

It happens even more rapidly if we aren’t lifting weights regularly to maintain what we have.

As the saying goes... If we don’t use it, we'll lose it.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to take a lot of time or much equipment to build and maintain muscle.

Three to five 30-minute strength sessions each week can do the trick!

In addition to supporting muscle development and strength, exercise can improve mobility and balance, both of which are very important in preventing injury.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 95% of all hip fractures are caused by falls.  Women fall more often than men and therefore experience three-quarters of all hip fractures.

The good news is that by training our bodies NOW through mobility and balance exercises, we can reduce our chance of falling and breaking a hip as we age.

Today, I want to share 3 workouts from 3 fitness programs that I have personally completed, or my clients have completed, that have helped us boost our muscle mass, mobility and balance.

Exciting side benefits of these programs are more energy, more shape, reduced fat, and improved mood and confidence!

You can do these workouts at home, in the gym, or while on the road.
